Individual rights vs. society's health: It's not a wash

Like Sen. Tillis' opposition to hand-washing, abstaining from routine vaccinations defies reason and threatens public health. For Sen. Tillis and others who doubt the importance of hand-washing, here's a stark reminder: We're in the midst of an influenza epidemic, with 56 deaths attributed to the virus, and the CDC says that this year's vaccine is only 23 percent effective. Enterovirus D-68 , a rare viral infection, recently reared its ugly head in the United States, and its effects can be just as dangerous.

Anaheim's pop culture examiners

The point of examining is that it is supposed to be a step up from blogging. Blogging is often informal, unreliable, and based only on opinion. Examiners are actually supposed to do some research prior to publising articles. The point of having examiners in all parts of the country is to have them put a local spin on different topics whenever possible. This makes sense, because Orange County is so close to Los Angeles. Also, many people from around the country and beyond have an interest in pop culture, so this makes for a wide audience.
