Ducks donate rink, library upgrade to Fullerton school

"We couldn't be more grateful that the Ducks have done this," Chris Thompson, Fullerton School District board president, said. Schools normally lean on the state and the PTA for spending, but it's nice to see corporations step up for kids, said Tim Ryan, chief operating officer of the Anaheim Ducks. "I think it really matters to Henry and Susan Samueli," he said of the Ducks' owners. Kindergartner Linkin Reid said said he was excited about "everything" on Monday, even though he is not old enough to play on the rink.

Fullerton Resident Critically Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash

FULLERTON -- Authorities say a 36-year-old Fullerton resident remains in critical condition days after a hit-and-run crash. The Fullerton Police Department said in a written statement that officers received reports of a woman down in the roadway about 9:45 p.m. Friday. Police said the woman was taken to UCI Medical Center with critical injuries. Anyone with more information about this accident was asked to call Accident Investigator Mike Moon at 714 738-6813 or the Traffic Bureau at 714 738-6816.

Fire destroys maintenance building on Fullerton golf course

A fire destroyed a small building at Fullerton Golf Course on Thursday afternoon. The structure, which is near the back of the course, was almost entirely in flames when they were called at about 2:27 p.m., said Deputy Fire Marshal Julie Kunze. The building that burned was near Arroues Drive. It took 21 firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze. There were golfers in the area at the time but they were not close enough to be in danger, Kunze said. There was no one inside the building, which is used to store maintenance materials.

Fullerton police officers tried to pull over the stolen Honda sedan shortly after 12:05 p.m. near North Associated Road, police Sgt. Jeff Corbett said. The driver refused to stop and led police on a chase north on South State College Boulevard, then west on East Bastanchury Road before eventually crashing into a pole near Imperial Highway and South State College Boulevard in Brea, police Sgt. Kathryn Hamel said. Both the driver and passenger, who were not immediately identified, were detained after the crash. No injuries were initially reported.

Muckenthaler Cultural Center turns 50

FULLERTON - The Muckenthaler Mansion was the home for Harold and Adella Muckenthaler and their family for nearly four decades, and now it has served Fullerton as a home for arts and culture for 50 years. Although the cultural center's 50th anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year, two upcoming 1960s-themed events will celebrate the golden milestone: The Beatnik Cafe on April 9 will feature live jazz and themed beverages, and the 50th anniversary gala is scheduled for Sept. The mansion and grounds also have become popular for weddings.

Burglar Targets Quiet SoCal Neighborhood

Ken Cheng said he was only out of the house for about an hour when someone ransacked the master bedroom of his home at 9 p.m. in the 2800 block of Ashberry Court in Fullerton. The brazen suspect climbed to the second-story balcony of Cheng's home and entered through an unlocked bedroom door, a spokeswoman for the Fullerton Police Department said. "They went through everything," Cheng said. Within 15 minutes of the first break-in, police received a report of a burglary in progress at another home on the same block.

Man suspected of breaking into 2 Fullerton homes still at large after two-hour search

Two homeowners in a gated community were startled Tuesday night when a male apparently ransacked one Fullerton home and burglarized another with a family awake inside, police said. Fullerton police responded to a burglary report shortly after 9:10 p.m. in the 2800 block of Ashberry Court inside the Park Hurst gated community. A man was putting his children to bed when he heard a loud scream from his wife. Police did not have a description of the man, did not see a vehicle leave the area and did not have any leads as of Wednesday morning.

Police Investigate 2 Home Burglaries In Fullerton

FULLERTON -- Police Wednesday were investigating two home burglaries in an Orange County gated community. Both crimes were reported Tuesday night in the 2800 block of Ashberry Court in Fullerton, officials said. At the first location, the residents were not home but returned to find their house ransacked. The man wearing all black was seen walking through the residence when he was confronted by a woman. A perimeter was established, including a K-9 search, but no suspect was located. It was unclear what was taken from the homes.

County supervisors look at Anaheim site for permanent homeless shelter

The land at 1000 N. Kraemer Place "brings together multiple communities" like Fullerton, Placentia and Orange by providing a central location just north of the 91 Freeway, Fullerton City Councilwoman Jennifer Fitzgerald told supervisors. "A lot of good can be done there," Fitzgerald said. Spitzer emphasized that the Kraemer location is just one option.
