Fullerton assemblywoman's bill may ban I-405 tolls

At issue is the widening of the freeway from the 73 toll road to the I-605. The proposed state legislation by freshman Assemblywoman Young Kim, R-Fullerton, aims to override Caltrans' authority and block all new toll facilities on Orange County roads unless approved by two-thirds of county voters. Part of her opposition to the HOT lanes approach is that its funding would not cover its share of the total cost, putting an unfair burden on Measure M funds. The extra lane should be a general purpose lane, she said.
