Firefighter David Schwarting, whom Shenbaum said had just successfully passed the swim test, also jumped in. While Schwarting and Shenbaum helped the men in the water, lifeguards arrived. "It was a selfless and heroic thing to do," said Lester.

Crusty Old Marina del Rey Is One of California's Most Expensive Rental Areas

Marina del Rey used to be a somewhat frumpy, aging community for retirees and sea-loving salty dogs. Lately it has become a new destination for the privileged children of the Westside's "Silicon Beach" tech boom, which is based in nearby Del Rey, Playa Vista, Venice, Santa Monica, El Segundo and Hawthorne. The unincorporated Marina was never cheap. The most expensive California city for renters was, of course, tech-crazed San Francisco . This group includes Laguna Beach, Marina del Rey, and Santa Monica. Send feedback and tips to the author.

How much will Tesla Model S battery life decrease over time?

The critical question is how much. My 2013 Tesla Model S, when new, had an EPA range of 265 miles. Model S data The recent Model S numbers from The Netherlands are even more encouraging. That means that after 100,000 miles, the typical Model S is projected to retain about 92 percent of its battery capacity and range. Due to a misguided EPA testing protocol, Nissan has eliminated the option of less-than-100-percent charging in 2014 and later model Leafs. I know I'm breathing easier these days. After 32,000 miles, I've noticed no range loss at all.
