Man arrested in death of transgender woman in South L.A., police say

Police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of a transgender woman in Chesterfield Square in South Los Angeles. Police will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. to discuss details about his arrest. Sanchez called 911 about 4 a.m. Dec. 3 to report that she had been robbed and assaulted in the 6100 block of South Wilton Place, police said. During the call, she told the dispatcher that her attacker had returned. Police say Spells is also a suspect in a human trafficking case involving an 11-year-old girl.
