OWENSBORO, KY - The Daviess County Coroner's Office has released the names of men killed in an early morning house fire in Owensboro. It happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday in the 1400 block of Leitchfield Road. 2 die in western Kentucky house fire

- A coroner says two people have died in a western Kentucky house fire. Daviess County Coroner Jeff Jones told The Messenger-Inquirer that the blaze was reported early Friday morning and responding firefighters found two bodies. He did not release their identities. Owensboro Fire Battalion Chief Steve Leonard says a police officer patrolling in the area spotted the blaze about 2 a.m. Firefighters were still at the scene late Friday morning. The cause of the blaze was under investigation.

OWENSBORO, KY - A few weeks after Owensboro Municipal Utilities announced it will no longer offer reduced electric rates to Owensboro Public and Owensboro Catholic Schools, they've decided to help the schools out in another way. OMU is basically giving the schools a break by letting them ease into paying the full commercial rate for electricity. Director of Owensboro Catholic Schools, Ken Rasp, says this will help them a lot. He's grateful though that they'll have some time to figure out how to pay that.

Announcement made merging two western KY hospitals

OWENSBORO, KY - It was announced Thursday afternoon that Muhlenberg Community Hospital is joining Owensboro Health. Basically, what that means is all Muhlenberg Community Hospital facilities, equipment, providers and staff will become part of Owensboro Health system. Owensboro Health CEO, Phillip Patterson, made the announcement this afternoon in Greenville. Patterson says this move will benefit the people in Muhlenberg and surrounding counties.
