Seven people, including some children, were injured early Tuesday when the driver of a car being chased by police crashed in South Los Angeles, fire officials said. The victims suffered minor to serious injuries and were taken to an area hospital, said Erik Scott, spokesman of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The youngest victim, authorities said, is a 1-month-old baby. The chase ended when the driver crashed into another vehicle near Imperial Highway and Main Street, she said.

A high-speed pursuit through the Antelope Valley ended with a driver in custody early today, authorities said. The 25-minute pursuit reached speeds of 85 miles-per-hour on the northbound lanes of the Antelope Valley Highway, California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos said. The chase continued on surface streets in Palmdale and ended without incident near Adela Court around 1:20 a.m., Villalobos said. The driver came to the attention of CHP officers because she was speeding and weaving in freeway lanes, Villalobos said.

She was 18-year-old Kimberly Gutierrez of Norwalk, said coroner's Lt. The woman was struck by a northbound train south of Avenue S and Sierra Highway about 4:15 p.m. Sunday, said Lt. Lester Trull of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Transportation Services Bureau. Why the woman was on the track has not been reported.
