Sex Offender Arrested In Idaho In Connection With A 1981 California Cold Case

Pomona, California A 53-year-old man was in custody Saturday on suspicion of murdering a young boy in 1981. According to the Pomona Police Department, the 6-year-old boy rode his bike on July 2, 1981, from his home to go to a fireworks stand in Anaheim. A preliminary investigation revealed DNA evidence that connected the victim to Kenneth Rasmuson, of Idaho, who is a registered sex offender. On Thursday, homicide detectives traveled to Idaho to assist in the arrest of Rasmuson. He is currently being held at the Bonner County Jail in Sandpoint, Idaho. POMONA >> An Idaho man is in custody in connection with the 1981 slaying of a 6-year-old Anaheim boy who disappeared while riding his bicycle before being found strangled to death the following day in 1981, police announced Saturday. An autopsy concluded the boy had been strangled to death, Vasquez said. Rasmuson was being held in the Bonner County Jail in Sandpoint, Idaho, pending extradition proceedings to bring him back to California to face charges, Vasquez said. Father of wanted ex-LAPD officer arrested for allegedly lying to FBI

Solis' father, Victor Manuel Solis, 53, lied to the FBI about the crossing and was arrested at his Lancaster home Thursday, according to federal authorities. During that interview on March 16, Victor Solis continued to tell the FBI he took a nap inside his truck and waited until 2 p.m. to cross the border into Mexico because it's too dangerous to cross in the early morning hours, according to Soto's court filing. Victor Solis appeared Thursday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, where he was presented with the charges.

MONTEREY PARK -- A funeral will be held Thursday for a man allegedly murdered by former LAPD Officer Henry Solis. Investigators believe Solis and Salome Rodriguez Jr. Solis, who worked for the Los Angeles Police Department since June 2014, was linked to the crime from evidence left at the scene. Federal officials say his father, Victor Solis, drove him to El Paso, Texas and dropped him off at a bus station. The service will be held at 9 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, 532 South Atlantic Blvd., prior to a burial in Monterey Park.

Cal State trustees heard a review of the initiative, called Early Start, during their meeting in Long Beach. The program was created in 2009 and it began in 2012, requiring freshmen who need remedial classes to take them before their first term. Summer 2014 was the first time all admitted freshmen were required to participate. The FBI will offer a reward for information leading to the arrest of Henry Solis, the former Los Angeles police officer suspected of killing a man near a Pomona nightclub. Solis has been charged with murder, and authorities say they want him arrested and extradited to California. He was fired Tuesday and L.A.
