Los Altos Teacher Arrested For Alleged Sexual Abuse

Special Victims Bureau detectives have arrested a Los Altos High School teacher for having a sexual relationship with a student at the high school. The suspect, a resident of Chino Hills, had been a full time teacher at Los Altos High School since the fall of 2009. The suspect was arrested for Oral Copulation, 288A PC; bail is set at $1,000,000. The suspect is currently housed at Industry Sheriff's Station and his next court date is February 25, 2015, at Pomona Superior Court.

Nearly 200 abandoned dogs ready to be adopted in Devore

The demand for the 191 dogs was so high that shelter officials had to implement a lottery for the most sought-after of canines. "I'm so glad that we'll be able to give her a good life," said Jill Hageman of Orange County, who won the lottery to adopt a Bordeaux mastiff. Some people camped out in front of the Devore shelter as early as 3 a.m., Lopez said. "I got here at 9:15 ," said Hageman. While most were there to adopt one of the 191 rescued dogs, Caroline Huff and her husband, Joe, went to pick up one of the many other adoptable dogs.

Lawmakers consider making bike helmets mandatory for adults

A San Gabriel Valley legislator has introduced a bill that would make riding a bicycle without a helmet against the law. "If I weren't wearing a helmet, I'd be dead," said Claremont City Councilman Sam Pedroza, an avid bicycle rider who often rides his bike to and from work. Pedroza crashed into a parked utility truck on Arrow Highway on Aug. - < - <31, 2011. Albert, 96, lives in the assisted living part of the community, and Maryalice is in the Traditions memory care community. Maryalice was an industrial nurse at the Baxter Medical Clinic at the Claremont Colleges and volunteered at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Maryalice broke her hip in December, and after her recovery, the Jonesse moved to Oakmont.

One Hospitalized After Fierce IE Apartment Fire

A person was hospitalized with burn injuries after a fierce fire broke out at an apartment building in Upland early Saturday. The two-alarm blaze broke out at around 1 a.m. at the two-storey building at 1365 San Bernardino Road, Montclair Fire Department said. Units from Upland and Riverside County Fire Departments were also there. The incident was knocked down in around an hour. The burn victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, and had also suffered smoke inhalation. No one else was injured. Some cats were also rescued from the flames.

Upland asks for report on medical marijuana initiative

The motion to conduct a report, was approved 3-2 Monday night with council members Gino Filippi and Debbie Stone opposed. Besides the report, the council could have opted to adopt the proposed ordinance without alteration or call for a special election. A total of 6,865 signatures were collected, and of those, 5,736 were valid, according to the San Bernardino County Elections Office. But Filippi said he was concerned about the city having to spend additional funds on the issue. "The city's policy of a ban has been a failure," he said.

Upland restores crossing guards after mothera s emotional appeal
