Patty Hearst back in the news with early win at Westminster

NEW YORK ' Famed and infamous heiress Patty Hearst was back in the news Monday after a dog she co-owns won its group at the Westminster Kennel Club show. A shih tzu called Rocket was picked as the top toy dog at Madison Square Garden. Hearst is the granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst and gained great notoriety in 1974 when she was kidnapped by the radical group the Symbionese Liberation Army. She was seen holding a machine gun while robbing a California bank, and later spent almost two years in prison.

Westminster adds alert stations to busy parks

WESTMINSTER - Blue alert stations will be installed at the city's three busiest parks, Sigler, Liberty and Park West, connecting those in danger directly to police dispatch at the press of a button. Installation will be done in tandem with the citywide park renovations underway. There were 26 crimes in Liberty Park, 39 in Sigler Park and four in Park West Park, according to the Police Department. There were 17 crimes in Liberty, 23 in Sigler and six in Park West. Security cameras are also being installed at Sigler, Liberty and Park West parks.
